Boy oh boy, how do all of you blogging pros do it? I've certainly got a lot to learn from those of you who find the time to keep your blogs updated so frequently. This time of year is known for ushering in a sewing frenzy, and being that I sewed and shipped 7 custom designs last week, I am guessing this year will be no exception.
I love the fall and all of the beauty, smells, and sounds it has to offer. Sometimes, it's nice to just lounge on the couch and look out the window at the beautiful fall colors and count leaves with your daughter as they fall from the trees. Children help you notice the simple beauties in life.
This weekend was very restful for me. I suppose it sort of HAD to be--since I woke up Saturday with a big ugly spider bite right in the middle of my forehead. I made myself lounge on the couch and my bed with an icepack on my swollen forehead most of Saturday. If I am brave enough to even take a picture of it, I'll share with you later. For now, just imagine BOZO THE CLOWN'S nose resting in the middle of my forehead. I wish I could say it's just a dreaded "North Star" that a little Oxy10 could take care of but this is a bonafide spider bite of some kind--antibiotics here I come.
In spite of the spider, the weekend was restful and fun. My husband had 3 days off of work and we decided to stay home and turn all of our phones OFF for the weekend. GET OUT, right?!! It was a much needed break for us. All 5 of us snuggled up for a movie marathon Saturday evening-we watched "Raising Arizona" and "My Girl." I guess you can say we laughed our heads off AND cried our eyes out. These are the kinds of bonding and cathartic moments every family can use sometimes--it's what we like to refer to as "The All-American Shut-Out!" We shut ourselves out of and off from everything/everyone else for a day or 2 and just spend some real quality time together as a nuclear family. We talked and laughed together, cooked and cleaned together, listened and learned together, and even did NOTHING together. If it weren't for the accursed spider, the weekend was perfect! I highly recommend "The All-American Shut-Out" to every family especially during this time of year right before things get so crazy busy with upcoming holidays that there's barely time to think OR blog- oh my!!! Try it--we had a blast :)
